Patterned Imprinted Concrete

Patterned imprinted concrete can be a very innovative skill. This method uses colours and patterns to decorate concrete driveways, patios, and paths. This gives concrete the appearance of natural materials like stone, slate, and timber. We avoid the high costs associated with natural products.

Minimal Maintenance

Patterned concrete is an exclusive product that requires very little maintenance. It performs far better than alternative products such as block pavers, flagstones, tarmac or flagstones. There are many issues that can be fixed by having a dolomite foundation and four inches of fibre reinforced cement. These issues include sinking and weeds as well as moss. Alternative products are available. With wooden decked patios, block paving is possible. Wood rot and pest management are also issues.

What is Pattern Imprinted Concrete?

Simply put, patterned concrete, also known as stamped concrete, involves pouring concrete on a base, then applying a colour and finally a hardener. This is quite different to traditional concreting, where you used blocks to create your finished.

Once the concrete is cured, the pattern is applied. There are many options for prints to choose from, including brickwork, texture stone, and ashlar stones. You can add curb appeal to your home by using patterned concrete, especially for driveway lining.

Good quality print

It is important to assess the quality of the printed concrete. To properly lay fresh concrete, you need to take extreme care, be patient, and dedicate your time. If the concrete forms inconsistently, it can lead to a weak floor.

A contractor might use 6-8 rigid matsa and 1 flexible mat to print a set. To span the narrowest part of the driveway, six mats will be required. Flexible mats, on the other hand, are used to access print areas and print in places where the rigid mats won’t.

The majority of printing mats come in 600 x 600mm. But, there is some flexibility with matt size. All you have to do is decide how big you want them and then find the best prices.

Colour Consistency

To ensure that your flooring is the right colour, you need to be aware of how imprinted concrete will look. Patterned concrete consists of two main components: colour surface hardener, and antique release agents.

A poor appearance will be caused by a poorly applied colour surface hardener or a lack of enough. This is especially true for larger commercial jobs like retail shop flooring.

It may take several concrete deliveries for big commercial jobs. This could result in slight colour variations in each concrete mix. The job of the surface hardener, when applied, is to match the colours. This is ideal if you have a larger job that takes more than a few hours to complete.

Ensuring Long-Term Durability

To ensure that the concrete floor is durable, the sub-stone foundation must be mixed with the ground below it. This could be soil or stone.

Concrete mix also plays an important part in maintaining structural integrity for many years.

This is especially important in areas that receive high traffic such as driveways or multi-storey garages.

Reduce the Chance of the Concrete Cracking

Patterned concrete driveways should contain 300kgs or more cement per cubic meter.

In colder climates, you may need more.

You can also add an air entertainment agent to improve the floor’s durability.

Reducing Maintenance & Maximising Results

It will enhance the appearance of patterned concrete by applying a solvent-based acrylic paint once it has dried. Water-based acrylics, which can cause problems with patterned concrete, are better.

To maintain the appearance of your concrete patterned, it is worth applying sealant at least every four years.

Although it is not mandatory, it will ensure that your driveway or any other area of patterned concrete remains beautiful for many years.
